In case you have missed the latest Gucci running craze bare foot or with the toe socks of various makes,
it's being boasted in some circles as the next best thing since sliced bread. Being fond of slice bread we decided to give it a try!

Never being fond of booties when it came to windsurfing or surfing, and while barefoot just feels better on a boat, these
unique contraptions just looked like the next best thing .

Having stubbed a toe or 6 on cleats and various other deck appliances, picked up more than one deserves in dock splinters, and been hollered at by owners for bleeding all over their nice white non skid or teak, cut foot on glass on the beach or just had
the very expensive deck shoe slip out from underneath, it was worth a good look.

The concept is very simple, allow all the pedi-digits we used to use thousands of years ago a chance to reconnect with
the supporting elements around them, but still be protected. The Vibram 5 Finger series offers a virtual slip proof, durable
sole made withe TC1 Rubber. It's non skid, non marking and touch as nails. The uppers are breathable soft and very gentle on the skin while simultaneously keeping the shoe snug.

The flexibility is fantastic, and you can really feel your whole foot working to provide solid contact with whatever substrate it's
working with, you know doubt have heard of rock climber speaking of toe holds while climbing, its essentially the same when the boat lurches 25 degrees and you seek any available point of resistance to avoid a dip in the drink.

The shoes come in a plethora of sizes and width, assuring a nice snug fit without the pain and suffering one gets when ordering shoes designed for some narrow footed princes from some high fa-looting kingdom in never-never land. While it takes a bit of effort to get the toes into their private little housing unit initially, by the 3rd or 4th wearing, it becomes second nature. Even the littlest piggy who suffers from separation anxiety finally came to terms and enjoyed his own domain!

The only downside at this point, (aside from possibly forgetting you are wearing them and then climbing into bed without removing them) is the current models do not provide much insulation on the uppers. So if you get cold feet easily, you might wait until they come up wit some slightly better insulated models.

PB - Speaking as a primarily barefooted sailor, those look really cool... and - of course this is just a product of my active imagination - but are they not likely to be popular amongst the foot- and rubber- fetishists too?

Nothing, not even your favorite sports teams logo imbedded in the neon orange or blue or green will every make crocs look cool.
Now if you are apply for a job as a Blue smurf at didneyland, they might seal the deal...
