Family Sailor was the closest...A project started 20 some years ago and dubbed "The Alsberg Experiment" where the guys at the yard had too much time
on their hands and decided to lop the to 8" off an Express 27. Interest was lost, enthusiasm/funding expired and the hull without the cabin top sat around in Ron Moores
yard for 10 years or so. Another party bought pieces and assembled the hull and cabin top and began the rigging process but then, as these things go, lost momentum.

Rob found it up in Santa Rosa, found a trailer to fit it and the deal was on. They had to switch trailers, hence the short term splashing. " It's about 1,500 lbs" right now,
even with the "laying rigging", and floated very high. 4 feet from transom to water line. It won't be an ocean boat, but a serious threat to the mono-hull fleet in the ditch run...

Cabin? Why?
Looks like it's currently set up as a big open dinghy..... Hope they included a dedicated beer cooler and a custom rum locker.

It looks like it's floating on it's waterline. When you said, "4 feet from transom to water line.", did you mean the top of the transom?
When is the anticipated maiden voyage scheduled? It would be great to watch. PHRF? Sport-sled with lead? Lead sled with sporty attitude? Death Lance?

So many questions---- so few answers. sigh.

Do I get a shirt? Have calendar and bumper stickers already....

Apparently the dream died an early death.

Rob sold the boat to Terry Alsberg, the keel was removed and melted down for another project?

Apparently the plywood interior has been sucking up a lot of atmosphere over the past couple decades,
and the rig included was a melges 24....
