With only one week left of registration for the Seattle Nood it's looking like there will only be a few eligible classes. According the the NOR a class is 6 boats - so far only the Formula 18's have over 6 with the J105's, J24's and Melges 24's each with 5. Sure would hate to see the numbers stay that low. What's causing the low turnout this year? Will it fill up at the last minute?

Outsourcing staff to photogragh these events is a shame and a sham...Sailing World should be ashamed of themselves...

They have Tim Wilkes on retainer to fly into all the venues to exploit the photo end.
Not only does he get the entire magazine contract, but also gets the exclusive terminal in
the tent to pimp his stuff...I'm sure Jan and Sean could cover it there...and other photogs
in other cities...Outsourcing...a great business model for corporations...not so much the US Workers...

Yup.. and when Boeing and Microsoft move all production to China, it will be good for them!

National Offshore One Design Regatta

Somebody needs to explain to those SW folks the difference between inshore and offshore, and that IRC isn't a one design.

Are there entities that turn a profit off this event?

That's a good question, I guessing yes, but I've no idea what they Pay everyone. Could be that between the costs of the event, the salary's of the employees and depreciation value on the equipment they lose money - just a guess though as I've never seen any P&L sheets on this.

sure would hate to see it not succeed though, that's never a good thing. I don't know if I could afford to do it if my class wanted to enter it, but fortunately I don't have to make that decision as they don't want to do this one.
