The last image taken aboard the HMS Bounty prior to abandoning ship.

Two sailors were lost in the transfer from ship to life raft, but are wearing survival suits.
Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.

From Cruising World's author Wendy Mitman Clarke, at anchor near Annapolis, MD.
"Barometer on Osprey has, for the first time ever, bottomed out."

"Thank you to everyone for your support and prayers at this devastating time. We want to thank the USCG for their bravery and risking their lives to save ours.
At this time, 14 crew members have been safely returned to land. There were 16 brave crew members aboard the Bounty. With sadness in our hearts we are reporting
that we have lost one crew member and still missing another. The USCG is continuing their effort to search for our last crew member.
Please continue to send your love and support to us, it is much needed."

Missing/found woman died?
Skipper still missing.....
Hard to understand why they started the voyage in the first place and then chose the course they were sailing.
Incredibly sad.

It seems to me they chose their voyage long before the late season storm ever materialized and must have assumed it would
peter out of veer inland.

Condolences to crew and families affected.

The front page image was taken on a previous trip from Maine to Puerto Rico, not the doomed voyage.
It would appear they were not shy of getting underway in the face of heavy weather.

These are the last two paragraphs from the story PB just posted on the front page.
It chokes me up...

The Bounty had already sailed from the harbor in New London when Gina heard from her daughter for the last time. She was sitting in her SUV in the drive-through lane at a fast-food restaurant. "Can I take your order?" a voice asked through a loudspeaker. Gina's phone rang at the same time.

"Can I call you back, honey?" Gina asked. "No, no, no," Claudene shouted, sounding distraught. "I might lose my phone service. We're already out in the water. I got to tell you how much I love you and dad." "Why are you saying it like that?" Gina asked. "I just want you to know," Claudene replied. "We know," answered Gina. "Now hang up," Claudene said. "I'm going to call back, but don't answer it. I'm going to leave you a message."

Gina Christian is holding her iPhone in both hands. She still hasn't listened to it yet.
