In front of Jack O'Neill's house at Pleasure Point in Santa Cruz, the recent minus tide have revealed a nice rack of vertebrae which surfer have no doubt been stubbing their toes on for some time. UCSC Director of Marine Sciences indicated that the fossilized bones are most likely those of an extinct Pliocene-era whale, dating 3-5 million years of age. The area is rich with fossils and numerous simular fossil have been unearthed during
seawall protection projects in the area!
