No Such Thing as A Comfort Zone As Rolex TP52 World Championship Reaches Finale

(Friday 20th July, Cascais) – Quantum Racing carry a seven-point lead into the final day of the Rolex TP52 World Championship off Cascais, to all intents and purposes a relatively healthy margin, even with the expectation of two breezy last races for a nine-boat fleet.

But Terry Hutchinson, the US-flagged five-time world champions’ hard-driving leader reaffirms, once again, that no margin can be considered secure, particularly given the strong-breeze, big-wave conditions, and the strength and depth of the competition.

    “No lead is ...

Back to Basics: “Seat-of-the-Pants” Coastal Race Win for Quantum Racing

While the five-time world title winners delivered an accomplished victory – never far enough ahead of the pack to relax even for a moment – they had to rely on “seat-of-the-pants”, intuitive sailing skills for much of the course.

World Champion in The Hague Offshore Sailing Worlds

    by Anke Haadsma

With yet another sunny day on the North Sea coast, in a little gentler winds than in the last few days, another two inshore races were held in The Hague Offshore Sailing Worlds. The completion of the first race prompted a discard of the worst race score for all competitors, with the exception of the twice-weighted long offshore race. And as predicted, this action compressed and reshuffled the results in Classes B & C, making the race for the podium positions even tighter ...

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (July 18, 2018) – In a day filled with superlative performances from Team USA at the 48th annual World Sailing Youth Championships, the pinnacle event for youth sailors, none was harder earned than Chase Carraway’s showing in the Boys’ Laser Radial.

Carraway (Wrightsville Beach, N.C.) didn’t post back-to-back first-place finishes as some of his teammates, but his 2-5 in the largest class in the fleet (58 boats) was every bit as impressive. The Boys’ Laser Radial is always one of the most hotly contested classes at this ...
