Three teams started the final leg of the Volvo Ocean Race on Thursday afternoon in an unprecedented dead-heat on the overall leaderboard.

And in the winner-take-all sprint from Gothenburg to The Hague, it was Charles Caudrelier’s Dongfeng Race Team taking the early advantage over their rivals for the overall title, Team Brunel and MAPFRE.

While Dongfeng Race Team found a clean lane to windward for the race start, Xabi Fernández’s MAPFRE and Bouwe Bekking’s Team Brunel were entangled at the leeward end of the line. In fact, MAPFRE was ...

Did you know there is such a thing as competitive Tai Chi? That thing you did in college and/or during yard time at the Senior Center, that slow-mo martial art that is scientifically proven to be three times more likely to be in a heart medication commercial than your day to day—they’ve got competitions for that. We’ve ...

(Wednesday 20th June, Zadar) – Luna Rossa led the 52 SUPER SERIES Zadar Royal Cup after making something of a dream start to the second regatta of the 2018 52 SUPER SERIES. The emblematic Italian team, racing just their second ever event as a TP52 team won the opening light-winds race – their first ever race win together – followed up with a second to lead the 11-boat fleet, which is racing on the beautiful waters off Zadar, Croatia for the first time.

While Luna Rossa were on impeccable form, making the best starts in the fleet as ...

As a curtain raiser to the 22nd Superyacht Cup it does not get much better than the sight of two of the superb J Class yachts strutting their stuff out on the vibrant blue waters of Palma Bay.

The opening races of the Mediterranean’s largest and longest running superyacht festival pitched Velsheda and Svea head to head against each other, a vivid reminder perhaps of ...

Day Two of the R2AK offered the same kind of dull excitement as the first. Teams were still dealing with the fat man of a high-pressure system that was squashing the Strait of Georgia under its sweaty mass. Teams sailed, stalled, rowed, pedaled, advanced, and retreated on the tides. Most faired well enough, but at least one team spent four hours ...

Race Bulletin #17 – Five Boats Ahead of a Tightly Packed Fleet
The Saturday evening update from the Newport Bermuda Race media team.

After a day of relatively light winds in the 51st Newport Bermuda Race, the competitors had made moderate progress down the 635-mile course toward the finish line at St. David’s Lighthouse on the northeast corner of Bermuda. Led by Rambler 88, George David’s 88-foot Juan K design, five boats crossed the Gulf Stream and opened up a significant gap on the rest of the 169-boat fleet, many of whom were sailing in lighter winds.

Early in the day, David Askew’s Wizard, a Volvo 70-footer, may have found better winds and a good wind shift on the west side of the rhumb line, as it passed Rambler at one point, before being overhauled again by the larger boat. Also in this group were two other big boats in the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Division—Steve Murray, Jr. and Stephen Murray Sr.’s Warrior, ...

Vestas 11th Hour Racing won the day in Gothenburg but the results on Sunday see MAPFRE win the In-Port Race Series...

Charlie Enright’s Vestas 11th Hour Racing showed great patience and sailed a clean race for a victory in the Gothenburg In-Port Race on Sunday.

But it was Xabi Fernández’s MAPFRE team who rode a third place finish on Sunday to win the overall In-Port Race Series, sailing 11 points clear of their closest pursuers, Dongfeng Race Team.

With one In-Port Race left in The Hague, MAPFRE can now not be overtaken on the leaderboard.

34 year old Peet Must from Tom’s River New Jersey never suspected he would be a last minute driver in the PAC 52 Fleet, much less win the regatta. But that is exactly what occurred during Leg 2 of the PAC52 Class West Coast Tour.

Peet currently works at oldest operating nuclear plant in the country as licensed senior engineer operator, the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Facility in New Jersey's Barnegat Bay.

An amateur racer who sails for fun, quite often on his home waters of Barnegat Bay in the Barnegat Bay A-Cat fleet against Interlodge’s owners, Austin and Gwen Fragomen. If you don’t know ...
