    Capri, 16 May 2018 – Day one of the Rolex Capri Sailing Week was a maxi-only affair on the Bay of Naples, with the weather mark positioned close to the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula. Racing took place in near ideal conditions with the breeze predominantly from the southeast and exceeding the forecast with gusts of 15 knots.

    (Wednesday 16th May, 2018) – The reigning 2017 52 SUPER SERIES champions Azzurra won last weekend's PalmaVela regatta in a very hotly contested ten-boat TP52 class that contained no fewer than seven brand new boats.

    The impressive form of defending champions was apparent throughout the seven races sailed. Azzurra topped the table with 21pts, four points up on Quantum Racing, which has Dean Barker steering, while World Champions Platoon – the only new Vrolijk design in Palma among the seven new boats – finished third.

    Bang on cue Mallorca's Bay of Palma fired up the best breeze yet of the 49 Trofeo Princesa Sofia Iberostar as the Finals phase started for most of the ten Olympic classes. In warm spring sunshine the breeze puffed to 18 kts at times to present a new, more physical challenge.
