OAKLAND — A person was taken away by ambulance from the scene of a crash on the Embarcadero on Monday evening, according to fire department and media reports.

Around 9:40 p.m., security guards at the Motel 6, 1801 Embarcadero, saw a white Chevy Lumina sedan drive into estuary waters and called for help, according to KTVU Fox 2 news.

In a series of tweets, Oakland firefighters said they sent three engines, a truck, a battalion chief and the department’s marine unit, and first arriving units were able to pull a person from a vehicle in the water. Oakland police also arrived on scene.
