• Duwamish Head: A Southern Sound Blast








    65 Boats in 10 divisions answered the call of the 2nd race of the Southern Sound Series,
    The Duwamish Head race, a 30.8 jaunt from Des Moines Marina up north to Duwamish Head and Blakely Rock
    before returning back to Des Moines Marina. A great mid winter distance race, even more so when
    conditions are spiced up by an incoming front produced southerly winds gusting to the mid twenties.

    This race is the second in the Southern Sound Series. All racing sailboats are invited to participate: PHRF, Multihull, Cruising, and IRC fleets. The race begins Saturday morning at the Des Moines Marina with the first gun at 0925. Start in a northerly direction between an offshore orange mark and the RC flag on the Des Moines Marina fishing pier, leaving the green navigation buoy to starboard. Leave the Duwamish Head Light and Blakely Rock Light to Port. Finish in a southerly direction between the offshore orange mark and the RC flag on the end of the fishing pier, with the green navigation buoy to port. Entrants are encouraged to view the TTPYC web site and read the NOR for further details.
