Frank Slootman has acquired the 1st SF Bay based J-111 Invisible Hand, named for the mysterious assistance which has enabled Franks business enterprises to thrive, and allow him the opportunity
to dabble in this sailing stuff. Frank was a big supporter of Bruce Schwabs "Ocean Planet" single hand around the world efforts.
The boat was christened last weekend at the Encinal Yacht Club and today went out for a proper test sail. Hitting 15 knots in 18 knots true, when she got up on a swell or a good puff the fun meter climbed in to the 20's. Norman Davant of Sail California indicated the she sailed like a dream, and was very easy to keep under the spinnaker even in conditions others might spin out in.
The racer/cruiser will engage in a couple mid winter series and gear up for some offshore events later next spring.
