AUTHORITIES are trying to get drinking water and food to areas devastated by Cyclone Debbie, as tourists tell of being desperate to get out.

More than 63,000 homes are without power, including in Mackay, Sarina, Airlie Beach and Proserpine and people stranded in the region have been told to expect more heavy rain and power shortages for days.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said there was a lot of structural damage across the Whitsundays and the government was prioritising getting water to Daydream Island, where about 200 holiday-makers and 100 staff are running short.

From a funky first day of racing when the promising solid morning breeze evaporated to become difficult, shifty and unsettled and then disappeared, it was a return to business as usual for the second day of competition at the 48th edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía IBEROSTAR regatta.
The Bay of Palma was blessed by the reliable light Embat sea breeze which filled in on cue to keep the 10 classes racing on, or close to schedule.

Well Mexico. What a place. I can't see why Trump gets so worked up. The weather is amazing, the kiting is amazing, the food is amazing and the speed limits are ignored. Being a bit of a woos I started the first race yesterday on my 13m R1V2 in about 12 knots. By the end it was about 7 knots so after finishing it was into the beach to change up to the 17. By beach I mean lovely sandy beach just by the race area. Oh and about 27 deg incase you were wondering.

Plus the sand does not get too hot. Race 2 went much better being ...

What’s more, 6 to 8 foot seas off the island’s east end, gusts blowing to 20 to 25 knots and a mix of rain and sun all added to the fun.
