After ten days at sea on "Brest Atlantiques", the race was completely revived off Rio, between the stopover of the trimaran MACIF, the turn-around dictated by the prudence of Sodebo Ultim 3, and sailors who all keep the step on the brake so as not to expose their trimarans too much to a choppy sea. The goal of the fleet, led Friday by Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, is to make the round back before recovering within two days conditions ...

    Report from Kurt Hoehne WWW.Sailish.com

It seems the Round the County race always serves up one marginal race day and one great race day. This past weekend, Saturday was truly marginal and Sunday could be called “OK,” especially if you were playing the shore along San Juan Island.

Saturday’s start verged on silly. Some boats were barely able cross the start before the time limit for starting expired. A lot of boats were stuck not far from the start line for hours. The race turned into a nice ...

Jambou and Beccaria poised to take the win imminently

The wait in Le Marin (Martinique) for the first competitor to complete the Mini-Transat La Boulangère is about to enter its final day. François Jambou is expected to make landfall tomorrow (from 18:00 UTC). Indeed, barring calamity, he’s set to take the win in the prototype category after a very fast race and a little over 12 days ...

Less than 300 Miles from the finish of my first Class40 race on board
Crédit Mutuel, here is a little almost! update.

Of course, the uncertainty of sport in general, and ocean racing in
particular, necessitates caution as to the final result. However,
to be in the lead at this stage of the race and 60 miles
ahead already fills me with satisfaction.

After winning the MiniTransat two years ago, nothing was played
for me to continue the race. It was during the winter of 2018 that a chance meeting enabled me to meet the management of Crédit
Mutuel and in a few months to confirm this project and build a
    New, innovative Class40.

We had to move fast because it was a tight schedule. David Raison,
    the architect,

A race is never over till it’s over as the saying goes. However, it’s hard to imagine how the 2 leaders, François Jambou (965) in the prototype category and Ambrogio Beccaria (943) in the production boat category could let victory slip between their fingers now. With 419.3 miles to go for ...

Since Tuesday morning, 9:18, the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild is in Salvador de Bahia where the technical team of Gitana Team is working to repair the central drift. The trimaran MACIF took control of "Brest Atlantiques", but will have to make a technical stop on Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro to replace its central hull saffron (loaned by the Team Banque Populaire). Sodebo Ultim 3 should take the opportunity to sit at the controls of the race ahead of Actual Leader. Every Tuesday, Sébastien Josse, a consultant for the race director, returns to the last week of "Brest Atlantiques".

Let's first mention the departure of "Brest Atlantiques" and this descent into the Bay of Biscay, how did it go for the four trimarans?
They all sailed like a sailor, leaving with one or two ...

A WAR OF NERVES AND DAMAGE GALORE. TWO COMPETITORS’ BOATS HAVE DISMASTED BUT THE SKIPPERS ARE SAFE.

François Jambou (865) in the prototype category and Ambrogio Beccaria (943) in the production boat fleet are still utterly dominating the competition. Earlier this morning, Russian sailor Irina Gracheva (579) and Julien Berthélémé (742) both announced to Race Management that their boats had dismasted. Otherwise, all is well aboard for both skippers, who are still in the race for now. These two dismastings are the first to occur since the start of this 2019 edition of the Mini-Transat La Boulangère.

After arriving in the Bay of All Saints on Monday morning to complete his first transatlantic, Britain’s Will Harris, 25, recounted the moment he heard the boat alongside them in the middle of the North Atlantic – Hugo Boss – had hit something and lost their keel.

“I remember when we got the news that Hugo Boss’s keel was hanging by a thread,” Harris, who was co-skipper to Boris Hermann on Malizia II – Yacht Club de Monaco, which finished twelfth after a surging comeback, said. “When you’re that close it makes it feels more real and it makes you understand the risks. Ten miles further east and that could have been us. It was really bad luck for them.”

With the pontoons around the Terminal Turistico Nautico da Bahia in Salvador already full of boats and with so many finishers arriving in the bright sunshine and the tranquil waters of one of the biggest bays in the world, it is to forget how hard this race is, the near misses and those who have not made it here. The 14thedition of the Transat Jacques Vabre Normandie Le Havre has been a lower ...

First break for Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, but a stop is scheduled
After five days of racing on the Brest Atlantiques course, the Doldrums delivered a favourable verdict for Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, the team was hardly slowed down compared to its rivals. Just after crossing the equator this Sunday at 13.45 GMT, Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier had a 163 mile lead over their immediate competitor, trimaran MACIF. However, the two co-skippers will have to make a technical stopover in Salvador de Bahia for repairs to the daggerboard.
