KFOG KABOOM slated for Saturday May 22, Now at Candlestick Point

Thats's right Candlestick Point, next to the park but not in it. We'll be there, will you?

    Saturday, May 22, 2010

KFOG KaBoom is heading down the road a few miles to its new home at Candlestick Point, a site that's hosted many good times in years past, from MLB All-Star Games and World Series to NFC Championship Games and even the final live concert by The Beatles.

We'll contninue in that tradition, with Foghead favorites Melissa Etheridge and John Butler Trio rocking the KaBoom Stage, followed by the true star of the show - the KFOG KaBoom fireworks - synchronized to a World Class Rock soundtrack. We've also added a few new attractions to the show, including expanded children's entertainment, local music and wine tasting hosted by Wente Vineyards and more.
Tickets go on sale to the public at 10am Monday, April 5, at Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster outlets. Advance tickets will be just $15, plus nominal fees, going up to $20 day of show. New this year - ages 2 and under are free!
Stay tuned to KFOG and check here for frequent updates, including detailed transit and parking information, coming soon.

So what's it like from the water? Can you hear the music? Do you have to worry about falling cinder setting your boat on fire?

Candlestick is a big unkown, but guest slips at Oyster Point and Sierra Point will sell out fast. Tides look favorable for setting a hook, flooding all afternoon.
Dress like nanook and you'll be all right.

Candlestick = too far from Alameda for an open boat ride without an insulated space suit. Why the move? Where will it be next year? Barrow Alaska?

    A closer look

Took a tad closer look at the cove immediately to the east of Candlestick Point this past weekend.
Logic says it would be the most protected area from wind in the prevailing westerlys... In the afternoon when the tide was high, was able to sneak in and get a closer look... with just a mild 15-20 knot breeze, one would essentially have to get right up close to the shore before feeling any noticable wind relief, although water was really flat further out. Water there registers at 3.0-3.5 feet a MLLW.

To get into a more secure 5.0-6.0 MLLW area, yer pretty much gonna be in the maelstrom...unless the weathewr god give us a pleasant offshore present...The knolls in Brisbane are looking mighty sweet....
