    Elle,
When I was stationed in Panama we had a gator pit by the side of the barracks with 3 or 4 gators in it they were our mascots (We were known as the Moatengators) they lived a good life and on Sundays someone would go to Panama city and get the ˝ dead chickens who lost the fights that day to feed them. W e would from time to time (usually for a ceremony) take one of them on a jump. The jump in the picture was the change of command ceremony for one of the greatest Company commanders I ever served with Cptn. Morehouse. No Gators were ever hurt doing this and I think they felt the same pride that we did at being among the only Company of Paratroopers in Central America at the time!!!

SRHS class of '81 (30th is in September this year) was in basic training 2 weeks after graduation and 12 weeks later was in Airborne school.

Nope been WD since boxing in HS and most of the guys I served with remember me as WD I’m stuck with it.

    From a fellow Moatengator......................

Those Moatengator lessons and so many others I applied together and to my surprise my soldiers in Iraq followed suit and wanted to know why I was the way I was and I told em, now hopefully they can carry on the same ways. These young guys in the Army today are so hip to the Cold War warriors and want to know how we did it back in the day. I was very happy that they respected the way we did things and I could teach them.
