    Pier 80 Happenings

Things are happening in a big way at Oracle Racing Headquarters at Pier 80 in San Francisco.
While the AC 45's are putting on a show in Newport, the crew in SF have been VERY busy!
Add a floating pig, and you have yerself a Pink Floyd album cover....

Yes behind the security fence and concertina wire things are abuzz!

The AC 72 is about to emerge, yet before that, something very, very large had to be relocated...

Yes that IS Dogzilla, now very visible in the front of the Oracle Racing HQ at Marin Street in the Dog Patch.,
You can view her now from behind the fence, and soon, up close and personal when the pier opens o the general
    public...

In the rear, the doors are about to swing open, giving the world their 1st view of the AC 72...
The docks have been moved and the huge rusty drydock...

...moved closer to AT&T, no doubt headed for scrap...things are getting VERY, VERY close!

Scrap? What's the going rate on ferrous oxide?

Imagine waking up in the middle of the night scraping up against that thing and thinking "oh my god I've dragged anchor"... but the reality being worse than that...

As of yesterday, the shed has been tidy upped a bit and the front and back now being painted in Oracle Racing colors.

The back docks are looking close to ready, but very, very vacant. According to the night watchman,
the 72 is still being pieced together..

Across the crick, the spy towers appear unoccupied...it's just a matter of time...

I think those are grain silos
I've spent more than a few hours anchored in that little inlet and I've seen barges offloading what I think is some sort of grain on a swing away conveyor belt

I think Tom's right, but they have not been used in ages, probably rat hotels at this point in time.

Mostly shipping in and out building materials such as sand and gravel anymore. Maybe Artemis will put a live cam for us up there?

    Just in....

"We're looking at August for the launch.
With the 30 days' limit on sailing time with the AC72 this year, there is no pressure to hit a deadline, so we'll be ready when we're ready."

Nice spot as long as it isn't blowing from the SE. It is my belief that those are derelict concrete silos formerly used by the Bode Concrete company. The older crane situated two bridges up the creek was for unloading copra.

SF has a pier just for offloading Oprah?
