Oracle Racing US 17 2.0 Preveiw

The team at Oracle Racing were slaving on the Sabbath ahead of Tuesdays unvieling of there latest creation, we'll call US 17 2.0

Some obvious refinements in hull structure, and still has that "New AC 72" smell to it...

So much so, they have not even put the wheel in yet...

Expect to see her out later this week if all load tests go okay...

Things are starting to heat up!!!

    2nd hull(s) version 1...looks like a new wing too...

On Sunday in San Francisco, ORACLE TEAM USA rolled the team’s new AC72 racing yacht out of the shed to complete tests in advance of this week’s launch.

“While we have been racing at the America's Cup World Series in Naples, Italy, the shore and build teams have been putting the finishing touches on our second AC72 here in San Francisco,” said general manager Grant Simmer. “At the completion of the regatta, we were able to push the new boat out of the shed today and successfully complete a round of load testing. It's a tribute to quality work and dedication of the shore and build teams, together with the input and efforts from the sailing, design and performance teams, to complete the boat on schedule. We're looking forward to the launch this week.”
Will get more exacting info tomorrow...

Oracle Racing AC 72 2.0 Launch and Christening

Today's Christening and launch at Pier 80 marked a milestone for the Oracle Racing Team, who are now poised to defend the Cup with their "Latest Weapon" as Jimmy Spithill put it. Yes, the new boat still had the new boat smell, and the team, families and invited guests were in great spirits, the sun plentyful and air temp still pleasant...

Among the working media, a famous Bay Area athlete, now on the back side of the camera...

    Trouble...

    The media risers...

A strong contingent of Japanese media doing the Jimmy thing!

    We have lift off!

Kids meal and jumper to keep them occupied!

    Kobe Beef Burgers!

Find food and members of "The Force" cant be far off!

Oracle's Marketing Director gets a good whack in...

    Bubbly flowed freely!

    OR AC 72_2.0 part duece

    The presentation set up

JK and JS kept it brief and to the point

Shannon Falcone and his better half's

So THIS is what daddy does?

After the launch, the crews quickly dressed and headed to the boat, but the wind built fast and heavy,
and not wanting to break things, the boat returned to mooring shortly thereafter!

That's a pretty damn big flag to be starched!

The shore crew continued to work on the boat, this came out of the shed, the messed with it for a while under the wing then took it back.
One thing I noticed was moving flaps on the aft part leading section of wing!

    More elevated hull pics...

The center pod appears to be much smaller, and this wing seems way different. PB, can we get side by sides of wing 2 and 3?
