We should have your shirts at skippers Meeting.
I'll check tonight at OYC to see if they have the trophy.

Check the MEL's and the required readings/viewings.
    cheers

    SI and other updates

    SI revised and posted https://www.jibeset.net/BAMA000.php?RG=T00648604
(Equipment Item 10) and remember when you plan equipment, budget, energy management.

    "REQUIRED RADIO CHECK-INs
All yachts are required to monitor VHF Channel 16 before
and during the race. (Bring extra batteries, if necessary.) "

    Monitor http://www.sfbama.org/2014/DHF/index.html for additional updates

Suggest you do the required readings one or so at a time. Here's the 1st

1- At least pages 1 through 17 of the US Sailing
Independent Review Panel report on that fatal
incident. That report can be found here on the
    BAMA web site. http://www.sfbama.org/fs/Farallones%...%20Sailing.pdf

    Couple of updates:
First: Disregard the word "effective" in Item 10 equipment "minimum effective length"
Second: A suggestion this week on required readings
    2. Rescue of the crew of “Pterodactyl” http://www.sfbama.org/fs/2008%20Pter...l%20Rescue.pdf and http://www.latitude38.com/lectronic/...ayid=95#Story2

Now that we have DSC radios, are we supposed to be monitoring channel 16 or 70? Or one of the other DSC channels?

Excellent questions/topic. Lets start a FAQs for skippers meeting.
The answers are in the SI and not on top of my brain. I'll check and report later so as to not mis speak.
We will have a lot of focus on DSC at the skippers meeting. Please bring a dsc handheld with MMSI registered and entered into jibeset as required for entry.
We will at least have a boat nearby to act as a vessel in distress (help me! find me!). We will have a transportable fixed mount radio at the meeting to serve as RC. The racers are asked to bring handhelds to represent fleet. Hopefully we can get some screen videos of various radios during the exercise. We are working with the CG on this topic so please keep ideas/questions coming.
