2019 Pangaea Exploration Sked is Posted!

In August, I had the chance to tour Pangaea Exploration's Sea Dragon, a Challenge 72 (formerly Barclays Adventurer / CB37) that was berthed in Sausalito before ending the 2018 expedition season in San Diego. The yacht layout is similar to a Clipper 68 but was built to sail around the world upwind, is made of steel, and weighs over 50 tons. On board were Eric Loss, skipper, and Shanley McEntree, first mate, who have an impressive amount of miles under their sea belts. They were welcoming and fun to chat with about adventures, old and new.

For the last several years, Sea Dragon and her crew have been studying plastic in the gyres, coral reefs, and marine life in remote (and not so remote) locations around the world. Sometimes, the crew are scientists (think Woods Hole and Algalita) and sometimes, the crew are part-time adventurers. Check out the 2019 expedition schedule of the North Pacific - posted here: https://panexplore.com/2019-2/ that includes some serious offshore sailing to touring the San Juans and from 6 to 20 nights at sea.
