    Found Floating Near Bermuda

A sailing vessel traveling to Bermuda found an abandoned 55ft sailing yacht and started towing it to the island.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Thursday 25th April, 2:14 pm – Bermuda Radio received at satellite telephone call from the 118ft sailing vessel Knickerbocker, which is inbound to Bermuda, advising that they have found an abandoned 55ft sailing yacht, and have taken it in tow.

“The yacht does not have a name displayed, but the description shows it to be the same abandoned yacht which was reported to Bermuda Radio on the 3rd of April by Atlantic Explorer.

“The US Coast Guard are aware of the vessel from a previous incident they handled, and intend to inform the owners that the yacht is being towed to Bermuda, with an ETA of late Friday night or early hours of Saturday morning.”
