2016 SFYC Resin and BYC Wheeler Regattas

Heavy overcast burned back to the coast in the early afternoon giving way to sunny skies and and a building westerly breeze
with an abundance of ebb, providing sailors from two events to share close proximity racing off the Berkeley Flats

The Berkeley Yacht Club's annual Rollo Wheeler regatta split their classes into the deepwater Wheeler Division that sent
15 boats in 3 divisions from the flats west to Harding Rock and back, and 16 boats in 3 fleet within City of Berkeley division on a shorter course on the
Circle. A short social period while waiting for the SW shift to clock to the predicted westerly pushed the start times back and reduced the sailing to two races,
before a short race back to the BYC for the oysters, chowder and adult beverages!

Meanwhile just to the north, the SFYC paid homage to all things fiberglass in their annual Resin Regatta.

6 fleets; Melges 24, J105, Knaar, Folkboat, Cal 20, and Express 27 worked the western edge of the flats with unmitigated impunity for 3 races apiece,
in tight unison as the afternoon winds continued to build and the ebb slackened then turned to flood, providing that perfect square wave, which all sailors relish.
Unlike their flatmates at the Wheeler, the Resin-ators were resigned to beat back upwind against the building flood before retiring to the warm sunny confines of
the SFYC's splendid deck for late afternoon cocktails and grinds befitting hard sailing mens and womens who left it all on the field...

Results are here for those curious as to who done what in a comparative analytical form!
